Fireplace Grates
Fireplace grates are useful because they help control the fire, and make stacking the wood and fueling the fire much easier. These grates are typically made of cast iron and are designed to hold firewood in a way that will ensure constant burning.
Usually these grates come with adjustable options. You can rotate them higher to the back position and they will act as a fireback, which will direct more heat in the room. Likewise, if you adjust the high side to the front, the fires will burn less intensely, but they will burn longer.
Fireplace grates also help keep smoke and debris inside the fireplace. Because of the way they are designed, the wood burns in the grate’s area and not underneath it.
